All the way back in the Taishō era, I was born when train travel was still a marvel. From our home in Aoyama, I waited each day at Professor Ueno’s train stop, rain or shine.

How to Look After Me

Play back over 50 years with me. I’m Blue Ted, the plush bear from 1970s Hampton. Stitched from a grandmother’s love, I followed a curly-haired boy through tree climbs, footy cheers, and biscuit raids. Did my maker’s love inspire something Wonderful?

I was born one sunny afternoon in Nanna Nora’s cosy home, back when colour telly was a marvel and the air smelled of eucalyptus and warm shortbread. 

With my soft blue fur and sturdy, huggable build, I carry the magic of those golden days. I even inspired the creation of Wonderlings, the beginning of a world stitched with Wonder.

How to Look After Me

March back over 100 years with me. I'm Winnipeg, a Canadian black bear from White River, Ontario. They say I once stole hearts at the London Zoo and inspired a literary legend. Did my name become world famous?

Elo! I'm called Winnipeg, though most call me “Winnie.” My story began in 1924 when Lieutenant Harry found me at a railway stop in Ontario and brought me to live at the London Zoo. 

In my new home, a certain young visitor named Christopher became especially fond of me and even named his own teddy bear in my honour. Some say that’s where the magic began.

Now I’m stitched as a dark brown plush with nostalgic charm, soft paws, and a storybook spirit meant to be passed down for generations.

It may take a couple of days for your FLATOUTbear to dry naturally in the shade, so please be patient. Avoid using artificial heat or placing your bear in direct sunlight as this can shrink and/or harden the hide and reduce the soft, snuggliness of your FLATOUTbear.

Are FLATOUTbears suitable for babies?

FLATOUTbears have been tested to meet Australian, NZ, USA, EU and UK children’s toy safety requirements (CE tested). We always recommend that you follow the SIDS guidelines and use a common sense approach when giving a FLATOUTbear to your child. For newborns, we recommend you put the FLATOUTbear under your baby’s head when changing them, have it close when feeding or use a little breast milk to help with attachment. Where are FLATOUTbears made?

FLATOUTbears are made in China from 100% Australian sheepskin. They have been working with the same family in China for more than 15 years, where the sheepskins that make FLATOUTbears are tanned, hand cut and sewn together before returning to their home in Australia where the FLATOUTbear team in Sydney inspect, groom and pack each bear ready to be sent to you, wherever you are in the world!
